Diabetes Mellitus Type 1 & 2

Greetings my Fellow Diabetics? I wanted to share my Nursing school Knowledge from what I remember about Diabetes Mellitus which is an Endocrine Disorder.
Type 1 Diabetes – Pancreas does not produce the hormone Insulin and become Insulin Resistent, therefore you are Insulin dependent.

Signs/Symptoms-
-Polyuria ( Excessive Urination)
-Polydypsia ( Excessive Thirst)
-Polyphagia (Excessive Hunger)
-Vascular problems such as: Neuropathy (Nerve Damage),
-Retinopathy (Eye Nerve damage)
-Kidney failure due to being High vascularity,
-Neurogenic bladder (ncontinence or retention of urine)
-Coma

Treatment – Rapid/Short/Intermediate/Long acting Insulin which may be prescribed from the Doctor. Checking Blood sugars before all meals and before bedtime.

Type 2 Diabetes – Pancreas does not produce enough insulin. (Most Common Form of Diabetes)

Signs and Symtpoms -same as mentioned above.

Treatment – Manage your blood sugar once or twice a day.
– Maintaining a balanced Diet
– Exercise Regularly
– Oral prescribed Medications per MD order

  1. You seriously just said that type 2 can lead to type 1….. dude learn your
stuff better. type 1 is autoimmune. Type 2 is not . Not the same thing at
    all.

  2. I think he confused type 1 with type 2 diabetes. Type 1 is reversible, type
2 is not. Type 1 diabetes could lead to type 2 diabetes.

    1. Nope he is right, Type 1 no insulin production, (autoimmune problem)
insulin supplements for life. Type 2 can either be not enough insulin,
cells are resistant to insulin or both. tx: Diet, exercise, and then meds..
most not all are overweight, sedentary life style etc.. eventually some
      type 2 become insulin dependent.

  3. Diabetes isn’t reversable you can just control it with your diet and
exercise but not many people care about that but later on in life they pay
the price well a leg or a toe or something. . .

    1. +Robert G. Levesque Holla! Thanks for sharing! By the way; have you ever
tried ” Vidadsmedia What is Type 2 Diabetes ” (do a google search)? My
female cousin who works in the health & beauty industry had some dealings
with them and was impressed by their great testimonials and reviews and
      tried their recommendation!

    1. +Michelle Santana Hello! Thanks for sharing! On a similar note; have you

unbelivable testimonials and reviews and tried their recommendation!

  4. Hi there…just to clarify T2 cannot “turn into” T1. T1 is an autoimmune
disease. Yes as a T2 you can become insulin dependent but it won’t “turn
you into T1.” I, as a RN too didn’t really realize there is a HUGE
difference until my son was diagnosed with T1.
