    1. +Alvaro Egas You might Try a whole foods plant based diet if you are
diabetic or prediabetic, this diet advocates nutrient dense foods with
almost no added salt oil and sugar, this is even more effective than fad
diets, medications and fasting ! From my own personal experience knowing
what to eat, is much more valuable than knowing what you shouldn’t eat !

  1. Hi!
Thanks to your advice my T2D is gone. I went on LCHF about a year ago and
returned to a “pre-diabetic state” after only three weeks. Then, however,
stagnation set in until I started periodic fasting as well. Skipping
breakfast proved to be the “turbo” behind lowering HBA1C values to normal.
I gather I will hit 5.7 in three months. Thanks for all the videos. I have
been spreading the Gospel ever since and encourage everyone who is
diagnosed with T2D to follow your advice. Rudi

    1. +angelfoodjojo It’s rare that i am impressed but this video really caused
me to say wow but do you know there is recent discovery

    1. +memadman I have been on the Every Other Day Diet for the last few months.
One day you can eat whatever you want and the next day you eat 500
calories. I’ve lost about 30 pounds. I have my one meal at about 6pm on the
‘non-eating’ days, which means I am fasting from about 8pm the day before –
about 22 hours. The next day, I have breakfast at about 12 noon, another 18
hour fast. It’s easy and it works. I’m doing it for weight loss, not
      diabetes.

  2. The diabetic advice for me was that I can eat everything moderately which I
disagree and just take the metformin, I am down to 1 tablet a day plus 1
for high blood pressure, want to get off both…

    1. Think I would prefer to follow advice of a diabetes 2 specialist like Dr
Fung who has successfully treated thousands of patients.

  3. I agree with this video to a certain point. dr. fung does not explain once
fasting (and it DOES work) the body will get rid of the sugar but what
happens when sugar gets too low? because the minute it gets too low you
have to eat something with a high sugar content to get it back up this is
the constant battle fought with type 2 diabetes. keeping the insulin
regulated correctly and the sugar not falling too low or skyrocketing

    1. Yes type 2’s can fast, that is what Dr Fung is saying and I agree with a
lot of what he says. I have only “partially fasted” I would say, a couple
of 36 hour fasts with water or black coffee, but about 6 weeks of just a
      600 to 800 Calorie a day diet.

I am not on medication, I just try and get by with diet and a bit of
exercise. I have been a vegan for a long time, but often a bad one, fries,
too much beer, pizza (no cheese), etc.

More recently I have followed Dr Greger, he’s on youtube too at
NutritionFacts.org. Rather than Dr Fung’s low carb, to give you a ketogenic
diet, he goes for high carb (complex carbs) and low fat and low protein,
all from fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts, seeds. It’s called Plant Based
Whole Food diet. It seems counter intuitive but it is starting to bring my
numbers down after just a couple of weeks.

Dr Greger explains in his videos that high blood sugar is just a symptom of
type 2, the real issue is insulin resistance caused by fat within the
actual muscle cells. So this diet has no oils or fats added at all. I had
seen other Dr’s talk like this in the last few years but I wouldn’t believe
it because when you eat carbs you know you spike.

My brother is trying a ketogenic diet, for the last 6 months, his A1C has
come down but according to Dr Greger this is just because you are “hiding”
from the real issue, you haven’t really fixed the problem. I’m concerned
he’ll avoid the diabetes issues but end up with Heart Disease or Cancer.

I would try getting your mom just to eat as much fruit and veg as you can,
and nuts, seeds, and to minimise meats, fish, oils, fats, dairy, eggs and
anything processed including bread (see I’m not saying go vegan, yet). This
is difficult, it’s difficult for anybody to change what they eat, but one
real good thing is that you do not have to limit calories on a Whole Food
Plant Based Diet. There is lots of fiber too, and the good thing about that
is that it starts correcting any problems you have going on in your gut,
bad bacteria die off, good bacteria increase and get stronger.

Anyway, Dr Greger has hundreds of little videos that are well worth a look
and everyone of them is backed up by the latest or oldest research, he has
a book out now too. (I do not work for him, just about 15 years type 2).

      Good luck.

    2. +Paul Palma So what about all these athletes on a ketogenic diet and all
the people who have improved cholesterol numbers?
Idk, I’m very biased against high carb diets. It seems keto has helped a
      lot of people.
This one person was on a low fat whole food vegan diet and switched to keto
and had great improvements with her cholesterol. She’s also a nutritionist
and posts lots of videos on her youtube channel.
Well plant based seems to be working for you.

    3. Well I don’t know about all the athletes on ketogenic diets. What happens
to these people when they reach 40? I know there are lots of people making
claims, that’s why we are stuck here still asking questions. It’s probably
going to be another 30 years before we really know, before really, really,
good and conclusive studies are carried out.

    4. Sugar won’t get too low. There are no essential dietary sugars. Your body
will make what little it needs from proteins and fats. 🙂

    1. +John “antiguajohn” Birk Hey everyone, wants to know more about curing
diabetes the greatest success that ive ever had was by following the
Diabetes Crusher Tactic (look for it on google) without a doubt the most
      incredible guide that I’ve followed.

    1. Yes, in fact, high fat content is a contributing factor towards Insulin
      Resistance.

People always confuse blood sugar levels to be the same as insulin levels.

Regardless of blood sugar, protein is broken down into amino acids and must
have insulin available to enter cells.

  4. 10:08 Did I get that right: the human body preferably burns sugar. So – as
long as the liver is not depleted, there’s no chance the body switches in
    ‘fat burning mode’?

    1. There may be slight fat burn prior to sugar elimination, but since the body
sees sugar as a poison, the body’s priority is to eliminate the sugar
first, by burning it. Once the sugar is eliminated full fat burning can
      proceed. 🙂
