The Super Fiber That Controls Your Appetite And Blood Sugar

Imagine eating 12 pounds of food a day — and still staying thin and healthy. That may sound crazy, but it's exactly what our hunter-gatherer ancestors ate for millennia! And they didn't have any obesity or chronic diseases like heart disease, diabetes, cancer, or dementia. The key was fiber. And in today's UltraWellness blog, Dr. Mark Hyman will tell you how increasing your daily intake of soluble fiber can help you reduce your appetite, lose weight, and protect you from chronic illness.

  1. I eat 80g of fiber a day – cue to weigh myself before and after …

Constipation for me is so rare as to almost be memorable 😀
(less than once per year and mostly on holiday)

    1. +MisterSky I’m getting my post-55 colon cancer screening tomorrow – it will
be interesting to see what a wholefood vegan colon looks like after 34
      years and how it compares.

    2. +MisterSky amazingly I have minor signs of diverticulosis in spite of my
lifestyle … I think age has to be the key factor.

    1. that’s because they were more prone to run across predators (animal and
human) or accidental deaths due to the elements…not to mention they
didn’t have antibiotics to fight off infection. Highly doubtful they died
from heart disease. No one gets out alive. Fiber is sorta like
      water…great for you..but boring.

  2. While making transition to no sugar, what sweetener do you recommend?
Especially for a baker, getting off sugar is difficult. Although I am
considering raw desserts, but they usually use agave or coconut sugar in
the recipe. I realize desserts should only be an occasional treat, but it
is difficult to eliminate. Thank you.

    1. I’m no health expert but imho xylitol is a good substitute. looks like
sugar, similar sweetness and no weird aftertaste. its natural, and as far
as I know, healthy. not only is it not bad for your teeth, it’s positively
      beneficial.

  3. I’ve known about konjac (glucomannan) for a while and I never bake bread
without it. I’ve lost over 80 pounds on the ketogenic diet… LOTS of fat,
low carb, NO sugar at all, or sweet things like fruit. If you bake a sweet,
use stevia/erthritol. No sugar. No liquid sweeteners like agave, honey,
maple syrup, etc. No artificial sugars that give you cancer and God knows
what else! ALL of my health points check out top notch. The ketogenic diet
is saving lives left and right.
